Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the
ROMANS
Author: Apostle Paul
See more information about Saul / Paul in the Concordance.
History of the book: Written about 58-60 A.D.
Letter to Romans was dictated by Apostle Paul to Tertius. The letter was delivered by Phebe, a servant in the church at Cenchrea (per Romans 16:1).
The belief of many Bible “Scholars” is that it was written in Corinth. This comes from the following information when putting verses together.
Acts 18 dictates Paul’s second missionary trip. In that trip he stops at Corinth. He was there more than 18 months. Verse 8 tells us that the chief ruler of the synagogue Crispus and many others are baptized.
Paul writes to the Corinthians and makes the statement in In 1 Corinthians 1:14 “I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Ga’ius.”
Romans chapter 16 are salutations from Paul. In verse 23 he says, “Ga’ius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you.”
Gaius being his host as he is dictating the words of the book of Romans places Paul at Corinth at that time. The issue seen by others is that there is nothing but Acts 18 to give the assumption of where the host home of Gaius was.
