BOOK OF THE PROPHET ISAIAH
Introduction
The first verse of the Book of Isaiah gives us an introduction to the author. Isaiah – son of Amoz. Isaiah is writing to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and Judah during reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah. Who all reigned from about 701-588 B.C.
In several locations in his writings (6:1; 7:1; 14:28) Isaiah will reference the death or reign of these men. This gives a time frame for the writing of these chapters as to what point in time those passages were written.
God uses Isaiah to speak to the people regarding their state of unbelief. At this point in time Israel was a nation divided in two. Kingdom of Israel and Kingdom of Judah. They will have a Civil War and both will look to other nations for aid in that conflict.
The Book of Isaiah is woven with chapters pertaining to that event and to prophetic events. Isaiah contains one of the largest collections of Prophetic passages related to the End Times and also to the coming Messiah.
