“Zion” = Old Testament    “Sion” = New Testament

Zion refers to Jerusalem.

2Samuel 5:7-9

David took the location for a new capital and called it “City of David”

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

The foundation of the church (Jesus Christ) was to be in Jerusalem. There it was laid with the crucifixion and resurrection.

Followed by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost and the spreading of the Gospel around the world.
