PART 1 Questions and Answers
PICTURE 1
Question 1: What is pictured above?
Answer 1: Apple on a tree.
Question 2: What is the item in picture 2 above?
Answer 2: Apple
PICTURE 3
Question 3: What are the items in Picture 3?
Answer 3: Apple and Apple slice TAKEN OUT of Apple.
Question 4: Are they BOTH “Apple”?
Answer 4: They BOTH came from the same source. The original whole apple.
Regardless of the fact that the slice is “taken out” of the Apple; the “slice”
still retains enough traits of the original that we can identify it as still containing Apple.
Question 5: Is the slice a “whole apple”?
Is the slice the same as the whole apple that is in Picture 2?
Answer 5: No, BUT it is a “part of” the whole apple.
PART 2 The Lesson
Taken from the Creation account of Genesis Chapters 1 and 2:
Man was created in the Garden of Eden by God during the days of Creation. He was created IN THE IMAGE and LIKENESS of God (Genesis 1:26). The man would be named Adam. Genesis 2:18 God states that it was not good for man to be alone. Adam is put to sleep by God and a rib is removed. From this rib, God created Woman and brought her to the man (Adam). Adam calls her “Woman” because “she was taken out of man”.
For our object illustrated above:
Adam is represented by the Whole Apple (Picture 2)
Eve is represented by the slice taken out of the apple (Picture 3)
Often missed is the “rest of the story”.
Picture 1 is the tree that the apple came from. The tree representing GOD.
As the apple takes on the traits from the tree that produced it. Adam took on the traits of God. Genesis 1:26 tells us.
Part 3 Summary
The Divine Plan as established in the Garden needed to be restated to man. Man spent centuries living in rebellion to the Creator. God had instituted a means for redemption through the death of His son on Calvary. The Gospel message began to spread rapidly throughout the world. In the writings of Paul the Apostle, God reminds us of the Divine Plan. See 1 Corinthians 11 and Ephesians Chapter 5.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
The Apple is a perfect illustration of the subject of “submission” as God ordained. The apple has to submit to the tree for proper growth. The slice being a “part of” the Apple had to submit to the whole apple for the growth that was needed.
Man submits to God for the nutrients he needs for development and growth into the image of God. Woman receives her substance from being a part of the man as he grows in this relationship.
